“Here is some of my latest Glushu work with a laminitic client. Perhaps some pointers from this laminitic mare helps a pro help a horse somewhere.

Laminitis is always urgent! Get a vet in ASAP!

Here the rad showed satisfying improvement of sole depth compared to the last time. The palmar angle is still too high so heels need to come down further to help normalize PA, this in turn significantly reduces compression under the tip of P3.

Lowering the heels inevitably increases DDFT pull, something a laminitic does not need. Compensation for the increased DDFT pull can be achieved by raising heels and bringing back break over/rockering the shoe.

Here the heels are raised with a 2.5 degree wedge pad, cut out in the toe. These GLUSHUs have an aluminum core, so rockering them is easy. A laminitic horse will be sensitive in the anterior part of the foot. Floating that area is a very good idea.

Do provide support in the caudal area of the foot. Here I used GLUE-U Shufill (PU) in shore(A) 30.
